Update #3 community build Vrijthof
Bulk order of LEGO® bricks has arrived
Since our last update in October, things have been a bit quieter on this project. Of course, work has continued on the designs, and a number of practical details and the schedule have been finalised on paper.
In mid-November, earlier than expected, the bulk of over 80,000 bricks was suddenly delivered (a full pallet, as you can see in the photo). We’d ordered this batch last summer in the hope that we’d have it by early 2025 and could then really get started on the build. It’s a lovely stroke of luck that we’ve been able to get started earlier than planned!
Working together during the club afternoon
Thanks to the timely delivery, we were able to get stuck in at our club afternoon on Sunday 24 November. Thanks to the sorting work that had already been done by our chairman, Patrick, the task at hand was to start building the MILS baseplates. These form the foundation of our community build, both literally and figuratively.
Thanks to the members who were present, this task was completed in a single afternoon. Several members can now continue building at home using the base plates that have been made. During the next club afternoon in late December, we will build together again and discuss our progress.
And on… with a few reinforcements
We regularly receive updates on the work from the DIY builders. They’ve even called in professional help for the stage construction 😉
